Lacking inspiration for Mother’s Day? Look no further than Brighton Starling’s guide to the day.

EAT
Get yourself down to Hove and grab a table at Treacle & Co, the perfect mother-daughter hangout. Daily specials at this cafe include soups, delicious pies with homemade pear chutney and a selection of sandwiches. And did we mention the cakes and salted caramel tarts? Three words: to die for. Get there early though, this place gets busy.

WATCH
Every Mum’s favourite, Judi Dench, stars in The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, a British-made film about pensioners looking for a more enlightening retirement. What better place to watch it than at the Duke of York’s Picturehouse, recently named as the UK’s best cinema.

SHOP
Head to the lavender/room for a perfectly girly shopping experience. There’s something for every Mum here – we adore the Liberty Print Dressing Gown (£45) and Bess Gold Bangle (£20). With lovely staff and gift-wrapping service, this place should be on every Mum’s wish list.

CREATE
The recently opened MIY workshop is a haven for all things creative. From sewing and dressmaking classes to pattern cutting and bunting workshops, this is a lovely excuse to spend some quality time with your Mum whilst creating something beautiful. Sally Goodyer is holding a beginners machine embroidery workshop on Sunday 18th March.
