It’s Bank Holiday Monday, which means all-day drinking in the sunshine. OK, so it’s not actually sunny but that doesn’t matter, you can still wander down to Neighbourhood on St James Street and take a look at the fab beer garden and newly launched bar.
A neighbourhood bar with a vintage, industrial feel, tipping its hat to Brooklyn dive bars and east London hangouts, the bar interior is an eclectic mix of objet d’art, industrial fittings, antiques, wood and other unexpected items.
Spread over two floors, with a 100-foot garden, Neighbourhood’s owners wanted to create an individual, independent bar that was a far cry from the homogenised chains that are taking over city centres throughout the UK. And what better place to open than in Brighton, the home of quirky, independent venues? With dedicated nights and one-off events planned in the coming months, Neighbourhood is definitely one to watch.
