DO: Scarlett Ladies

Inject a little zing into your Thursday evening with an Art Macabre session on 23rd April, brought to you by Brighton’s Scarlett Society. Art Macabre invites you to grab an artistic weapon of choice and take part in a ‘death drawing’ salon, reviving the creative spirit of Brighton-born artist Aubrey Beardsley. Explore the dark arts of this legendary artist, whose illustrated tales included Salome and Masque of the Red Death.

The Scarlett Society was set up by Lesley McNamee, Sam Smith and Pandora George, who organise bi-monthly events for the “unlike minded”, creative talents and bright minds of Brighton and beyond. Previous events have included a Gin Apothecary, Christmas Wreath Making and author talk about Stevie Nicks, and details of its upcoming June event will be released shortly. The events are a fantastic way to meet other creative ladies, do something a little different and learn about things you never knew you wanted to know.

Whether it’s your first time drawing or you’re a seasoned pro, this event promises to be a real eye opener, so grab a few friends and come and see what it’s all about. Sorry menfolk, this one is only for the ladies and you must be over 18 to attend.

Beardsley-peacockskirtArt Macabre Death Drawing, Caribou Rooms, 55 Brunswick Street East, BN3. Map. Thursday 23rd April, 7.30pm, £20. Buy tickets here.
